Bread stamp

Wooden stamp for eucharistic bread dating from the 19th century from Alexandroupoli ,in which the iconographic type dominates with the repeated inscription ΙΣ-ΧΣ/ΝΙ-ΚΑ   three times along the vertical axis of the cross, flanked by the particles corresponding to the Mother of God and the saints on the horizontal axis. One of the characteristics of this stamp  is in the four triangular sections which the four phases of the sun are engraved , sunrise, noon, afternoon and sunset.

This stamp is part of Loulis Mills private collection of 500 bread stamps dating from the 5th to the 20th century.
